Undergraduate Psychology Research

During my sophomore year as an undergraduate student up until my senior year, I was involved in three different psychological research labs. Since there was no neuroscience major at the time I was a student, I joined multiple labs to gain experiences in biological psychology related research.

Basso Clinical Neuropsychology Lab (2012-2014)

I spent time in Dr. Michael Basso's Clinical Neuropsychology Lab to gain exposure to neuropsychological testing, and quantitative research. During my time here, I was able to present as a first author poster presenter during my junior year at the International Neuropsychological Society (INS) in 2014, and present at various research colloquiums and seminars. I also completed a Tulsa Undergraduate Research Challenge (TURC) thesis as a TURC scholar - the first of any undergraduate in the lab focusing on major depressive disorder. My thesis title was the "Neuropsychological Correlates of Atypical and Agitated Depressive Symptoms among Outpatients".

Harkness Lab (2014-2015)

I also was a lab member in the Biochemical Institute and Psychological Study for Individual Differences.

This lab experience fully immersed me for the first time in interdisciplinary, undergraduate research in biology, psychology, genetics, and everything in between. It made me realize that I wanted to pursue interdisciplinary work, bridging the gap between these fields. I was awarded a TURC summer fellowship ($1700) to continue pursuing my research interests.
